* The music of Ray Charles has deep Jazz roots. Ray evolved, was inspired by additional traditions, and created a unique synthesis. The 1957 album: The Great Ray Charles – Is a fine example of his Jazz genius.
2. Barry Harris Disciples and Vetted Resources:
Barry Harris traveled the world looking for a school he could call his own. It was a lifelong search. Musicians and music schools around the world couldn’t let go of their modal logic, classical training, and elaborate academic theories. Going deep into the Barry Harris method requires a non-conformist attitude, a deep love of music, and a willingness to let go of previous theories and conceptions. The Barry Harris method is best appreciated when examined on its own. It is a different mathematical system. Below is a list of people who remain true to traditional Jazz and Bebop. If you know of others, please let me know at (yairgorens @ gmail.com).
